The 17^th Convocation Ceremony of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) held on today (Saturday), 11^th February 2017 at 10:00 am AIUB’s own Plot No. 2, Embankment Drive Road, Sector-10, Uttara, Dhaka. Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, M.P the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh presided over the ceremony and conferred the Degrees to the graduating students as kindly authorized by the Hon’ble President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh & Chancellor of the Universities. Mr. Annisul Huq, Hon’ble Mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation and Professor Abdul Mannan, Hon’ble Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh was the Special Guest. His Excellency Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Hon’ble High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Bangladesh was graced the Ceremony as the Convocation Speaker.

Due to unavoidable circumstances on behalf of Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Hon’ble Chairman of the AIUB Board of Trustees Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna delivered his valuable speech. A total number of 2960 graduates were conferred degrees for successfully completion of all the academic requirements in various disciplines of the Bachelors and Masters Degree Programs of the University.

Congratulating the Graduating students, the Hon’ble Education Minister Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP suggested the University management to follow the private university act and providing quality education with reasonable tuition fees and other cost.

The Special Guest Mr. Annisul Huq, Hon’ble Mayor of the Dhaka North City Corporation congratulated the new graduates and delivered his valuable speech for the graduating students.

The Special Guest Professor Abdul Mannan congratulated the newly graduates and emphasized for the needs of a knowledge based society.

The Convocation speaker His Excellency Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Hon’ble High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Bangladesh congratulated the newly graduates for their remarkable achievements and delivered his valuable speech.

The Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna urged the students to follow their dreams whether; “good or bad – and turn every dream into solutions. She also suggested the students to solve all the problems with great courage and their talented actions with unity and knowledge.

The Hon’ble Members of the Trustees Board, Vice President of AIUB, Vice Chancellors of other Universities, UGC Officials, Pro Vice Chancellor of AIUB, Registrar, Faculty members, Syndicate and Academic Council members, Deans, Directors, officers, parents and guardians, graced the Ceremony. Along with the graduating students and their families a large number of local and foreign dignitaries and members of the print and electronic media also attended the convocation Ceremony.
