The 7th Convocation of the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on February 25, 2007 at 10.00 A.M. at the Bangladesh – China Friendship Convention Center. Presided over and graced by the Honorable President of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the University Professor Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed, the Convocation was attended by the former Chief Justice as well as former Head of the Caretaker Government Justice Latifur Rahman as the Convocation speaker, and Professor Dr. M. Asaduzzaman, Chairman of the University Grants Commission as the Convocation Guest, Dr. Anawarul Abedin, AIUB Trustee Board Chairman, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Vice Chancellor delivered their valuable speeches after Mr. Istiaque Abedin, Founder Vice President (International Affairs & Public Relations) gave the opening speech of welcome to the guests on this occasion.
While cordially congratulating the graduating students the best of luck and bright future, the Chancellor emphasized the essential need for the permanent campus of the university for good quality academic and research programs, the honorable Justice Latifur Rahman termed the university’s performance as laudable one in-spite of its constraints in the face of growing needs of adequate space and congenial environment. Dr.Anwarul Abedin pointed out the university had been making its all out efforts to provide the good quality of education of international standard, and hoped the government would favorably consider the long requested proposal of introduction of medical disciplines in the university, and removal constraints in teaching of English language throughout the country, specially at the school level. The Vice Chancellor explained the academic activities of the AIUB along with the future plans and programs of the university. As permitted by the Chancellor she handed over certificates to the graduating students.
All of them profoundly carried serene messages for the students and reminded of the latter’s august responsibilities towards the nation and the humanity, through application of their academic achievements and skills acquired from their Alma Mater which is recognized as an eminent seat of good quality higher learning in the country. The present world is the world of globalization where keen and fierce competitions and challenges are prevailing. The students are constantly required to discharge their respective duties and responsibilities effectively and efficiently with whole hearted devotion, honesty and efforts for their own as well as the nation’s survival in such state of worldly conditions.
A total of 753 students who were successfully accomplished different disciplines at Bachelor and Masters Level Programs were awarded their degrees.
A large number of local, foreign dignitaries and the Founder Vice Presidents Mr.Hasanul A. Hasan and Mrs Nadia Anwar, besides the faculty members, Registrar, Deans of AIUB and Vice Chancellors of other universities and officers and the parents and guardians of the students attended the Convocation.
The convocation was followed by a banquet with jubilant cultural program at 7.30 pm in the BCF-CC on the same day.
