The 9^th Convocation of the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on 9th March-09 at 11.30 A.M.  at the Bangladesh – China Friendship Convention Center.  The Honorable President of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of AIUB Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman graced the occasion and presided over the Ceremony. The Convocation was attended by the Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey His Excellency Mr. Sakir Ozkan Torunlar  as the Convocation Speaker. The Chairman of AIUB Trustee Board Dr. Anwarul Abedin and the Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna spoke on the occasion.

Degrees awarded to 858 students who were successfully accomplished different disciplines at  Bachelor and Masters Level Programs.

The Convocation speaker Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Mr. Sakir Ozkan Torunlar in his speech addressed the graduates stating that a new phase in their life are steeping which will sailed them in the high seas of globe. He also stated that when the graduates were born, the world was less populated and less dangerous and the resources were richer. Since then the volume of resources has sharked, population has increased and the living standard decreased. He was happy to know that the AIUB is maintaining standard and providing quality higher education with the help of most sophisticated system. With the production of skilled manpower in the country nation can run their development activities for future achievement and expected that a day will come Bangladesh will reach to the level of most prosperous nation in the world. Finally he hoped that friendly relationship with Bangladesh will ever remain.

The Vice Chancellor of AIUB congratulating the students highlighted the achievement of the AIUB academic activities including pros and cons of the various points of quality assurance. She categorically mentioned the assistance and guidance she received from the management, faculty and officials for running the University in a befitting manner. She pointed about the linkages of the AIUB with the international organizations and academic exchange program with the foreign distinguish universities. The AIUB must continually change to prepare to be thinking what to do and how to do, to explore the new paths that lead new directions.

The Chairman of AIUB Dr. Anwarul Abdein in his welcome speech mentioned that the university will continue to embarked on qualitative and excellence programs and services achieving its mission and vision. He thanked all quarters to cooperate for running AIUB as a quality institution and gained reputation locally and internationally.

The Chairman of the UGC Prof. Nazrul Islam, Founder Vice Presidents of AIUB Mr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Prof. Tafazzal Hossain (Vice Presidents – Academic), Pro-vice Chancellor, Registrar and Vice Chancellors of other Universities, and a large number of local, foreign dignitaries besides the faculty members, Deans, officers of AIUB, the parents and guardians of the students and members of the Media attended the Convocation.

The convocation was followed by a banquet with jubilant cultural program at 7.30 pm in the BCF-CC on the same day.
