The 19^th Convocation Ceremony of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB)  held today Sunday, 26^th January 2020 at 09:30am at AIUB permanent campus at kuril, Dhaka. His Excellency Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid, Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh & Chancellor of the University has kindly authorized Dr. Dipu Moni, M.P the Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh to preside over the ceremony and conferred the Degrees to the graduating students. Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, M.P. Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education, and Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Hon’ble Chairman of University Grants Commission of Bangladesh were the Special Guests.

The Convocation was graced by Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Honorable Former Finance Minister, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh was the Convocation Speaker of the Ceremony.

The Chairman, AIUB Board of Trustees Mrs. Nadia Anwar and Vice Chancellor Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna also delivered their speeches on this occasion. A total number of 4504 graduates of Academic Year 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 who have successfully completed all the academic requirements in various disciplines of the Bachelor and Master’s Degree Programs were conferred degrees at the Convocation.

Congratulating the Graduating students, the Hon’ble Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP praised & Thanks AIUB for its sincere role to provide to quality education and playing a pioneer role to develop the country by producing quality graduates. She stated that we can change the country with our commitment towards our peoples and the nation. We already entered in the 4^th Industrial revolution and will must work together to achieve the goals of Sustainable Development. To achieve these goals we must have our skill and talent including academic education. She also told that we can make this country happy, prosperous and developed county by 2041 as setup by Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. We have Vision 2021, 2041 and a Delta plan and we must put our total efforts to achieve these goals. So that we achieve dream of our Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. She also told that our Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Government and always support with the genuine demands of the students.

The Special Guest Mr. Mohibul Hassan Chowdhoury, M.P. Hon’ble Deputy Minister, Ministry of Education congratulated the new graduates. In his speech he said we must be competitive to face the challenges the 20^th Century. To cope with this challenge we must have IT based education with academic education. We must have our skills to make this country a develop country by 2041.

The Special Guest Professor Dr. Kazi Shahidullah, Hon’ble Chairman of University grants Commission of Bangladesh  congratulated the new graduates. In his speech, the Chairman of the UGC emphasized a great need to improve quality of higher education, and the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh is supporting for improving the quality of higher education.

The Convocation speaker Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, Honorable Former Finance Minister presented in his convocation speech remembered his University life while he was studying in Oxford University. He inspired the graduating students to become perfect, studious, competitive in their future lives. He also told to serve this nations as they are they fortunate students who have got the chance to study in the University. He wish them success in every steps of life.

The Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna congratulated the new graduates on behalf of AIUB for achieving their degrees and performance. She advised the graduates to deal with their own talent with the patience of each and every problem they face in future. She also told that graduation is not the end but the new beginning. A new beginning is an exciting a new journey of adventure, discovery and possibilities.

Chairman, Board of Trustees Mrs. Nadia Anwar in her welcome speech congratulated the graduates for their remarkable achievement. She told that good things take time, great things take work. She said that the university was founded by his father Dr. Anwarul Abedin’s dream.  Today that dream has become a reality. For the young graduates, she said that they will take Bangladesh forward in its specific destination.

The Founder of AIUB Dr. Hasanul A. Hasan, Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin along with the Board Members of the Trustees of AIUB Dr. Abdus Samad Alim, Mrs. Sabrina Abedin, Dulce Corazon Lamagna Mazumdar, Syndicate and Academic Council members, Deans and officers graced the Ceremony. Along with the others University Vice Chancellors and their representatives, graduating students and their families a large number of local and foreign dignitaries and members of the print and electronic media also attended the convocation Ceremony.
