The 10^th Convocation of the American International University – Bangladesh (AIUB) was held on the 11th of April-2010 at 11.30 A.M. at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center.  The Honorable President of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh and the Chancellor of AIUB Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman graced the occasion and presided over the Ceremony. The Convocation was attended by the Honorable Ambassador of the United States of America His Excellency Mr. James F. Moriarty as the Convocation Speaker. The Chairman of AIUB Trustee Board Dr. Anwarul Abedin and the Vice Chancellor of AIUB Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna spoke on the occasion.

On this occasion a total number of 1040 graduates were conferred with their degrees, who has successfully completed all the academic requirements in various disciplines of the Bachelor and Masters Degree Programs.

The Convocation speaker Honorable Ambassador of the United States of America His Excellency Mr. James F. Moriarty started his speech by extending his warm congratulations to the new graduates for their remarkable achievement and to AIUB for reaching the milestone of the 10^th Convocation. He mentioned that “although we now live in interesting times that time doesn’t have to be bad; if we all rise to the challenges that face the world today”. He encouraged the fresh graduates to choose from the multitude of professions available to them always aiming at serving their nation and ultimately the world. He urged every graduate to act as ambassadors of Bangladesh in all their cross cultural interactions.

The Vice Chancellor of AIUB congratulating the students has urged them to deal with every challenge with creativity, loyalty, dedication and perseverance. She reminded them to look at failures only as determinants of self improvement and learn from their mistakes. In her speech she highlighted the achievements and attributes and showcased AIUB’s special blend of academic excellence, commitment and potential.

The Chairman of AIUB Dr. Anwarul Abdein in his welcome speech mentioned that as always the university will continue to strengthen and diversify all its academic programs to meet the growing needs of the society and expressed his desire of opening a Medical Faculty in order to complete his vision of a Complete University.

The Chairman of the UGC Prof. Nazrul Islam highlighted the remarkable progress the country has made in the education sector since independence. He acknowledged the contribution the private universities are making to the cause of higher education of the country.

The Founder & Vice Presidents of AIUB Mr. Hasanul A. Hasan(Treasurer), Mr. Ishtiaque Abedin, Ms. Nadia Anwar along with the Vice President (Academics) Prof. Tafazzal Hossain, Pro-vice Chancellor, Registrar, Vice Chancellors of other Universities, and a large number of local and foreign dignitaries graced the occasion. AIUB Faculty members, Academic Council members, Deans and officers attended the 10^th Convocation Ceremony along with the parents/guardians of the graduating students and members of the Media.

The Convocation Ceremony was followed by a banquet and a cultural program at 7.30 pm at the BICC on the same day.
